Summary:
This position is responsible for planning accounting and business activities within the accounting department. This position will participate in wide variety of activities including the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and data analysis by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties
Owns the general ledger, reconciliation, and monthly close process.
Manage day-to-date operational needs of the accounting team
Continuously identify, design, develop and implement ongoing enhancements of accounting and reporting processes.
Job Duties:
Owns the general ledger, reconciliation, and monthly close process.
Ensure accounting and financial reporting maintains compliance with GAAP, is accurate, timely, and complete.
Coordinate preparation for closing the General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Inventory, and Accounts Receivable at month end, including the supervision and review of the monthly Journey Entry process.
Coordinate with accounting staff to verify transactions regularly; reviews and analyzes general ledgers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Participates in reviewing financial statements and budget vs. actual variance with management personnel.
Support CFO in preparation of monthly and quarterly Board reporting materials and in regularly updating budget and forecast models.
Extract, compile and analyze and maintain financial and operational data for internal metrics reporting. Oversee and direct documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Responsible for keeping the CFO informed regarding any issues detected or any changes required to be made in the general ledger or to established policies or procedures.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Continuously identify, design, develop and implement ongoing enhancement of accounting and reporting processes.
Own the relationship with external auditors and implement the conclusions to ensure best practices across the Company.
Coordinate the preparation of year-end closing lead schedules. Coordinate the provision of information to internal auditors and external auditors for the annual audit.
Train, support, mentor, and develop the accounting team. Identify opportunities to drive efficiency & automation to keep up with the demands of our diverse business.
Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable assuring accuracy in coding, recording, collection and completion of all activities within established deadlines.
Skilled in trust building and collaborates with other departments including sales and operations teams and support cross-functional initiatives.
Streamline, maintain & improve processes and internal controls.
Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

Directly supervises employees in the Accounting department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or related area of education is required. Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience or related experience is required. Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Prior experience with manufacturing accounting and standard costing a plus. CPA and/or prior experience in public accounting a plus. A willingness to roll up their sleeves and get in the details. Excellent computer skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools a plus.
Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once, and handle a fast-paced environment. Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, able to communicate complex concepts and risk factors to stakeholders and influence decision making. Ability to effectively manage people, plan and delegate, and manage employee performance.

Travel Requirement: This position requires infrequent travel up to 5% of the time.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills
Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
